Ophiuchus Information
Information in this post supersedes all Ophiuchus info elsewhere.

Ophiuchus Dorms

Current Map

Exterior

۞ There are two entrances to the dorm, and both are located in the Arena
۞ The main entrance resembles an ornate gazebo with a spiralling staircase in the centre leading down. It surrounded by knee-high rocks that regular blanks are unable to cross, but there is a bell nearby that can be rung to summon those below.
۞ The service entrance is located some distance away, and resembles a simple hole in the ground. One side is gently sloped enough to act as a ramp, and a considerably long tunnel leads to a door that opens onto the kitchen, locked from the inside.

Upper Level

۞ Carved upon the wall of the main room, visible to all who descend the staircase, is the following:
Thou art a Blank slate, unburdened from thy past.
Take pride, for Thou art Chosen by the Judges to keep order amongst the Blanks, as Arbitrators and Enforcers.
Who was once thy friends and allies mattereth not to a Blank. Thy unit is thy family here. None other can thou trust.
Thou shalt honor the rule of the Judges above all else here and know no other patrons.
Thou shalt serve the Judges faithfully.

۞ The toilets all have stalls and rudimentary plumbing that moves waste away; all showers have some basic temperature control. Soap is provided.
۞ The meeting room is large and stately, with seating for eighteen. Dossiers and information on normal blanks can be found here, as can the month's job board.
۞ The foyer of the west wing is hung with banners depicting a pair of snakes twined around a plain staff, and the same symbol has been set into the stones of the floor. The foyer of the north wing is likewise decorated with a snake grasping its own tail, and the east displays a rearing snake with a full, flared hood.
۞ Each wing has six bedrooms, and ends in a kitchen. The state and contents of the rooms varies with the group's standing, but each bedroom always has a single black journal, inkpot and quill for personal use. See below for details.
۞ Each kitchen has a small pantry for keeping foods cool, a stone hearth containing a primitive oven, and a table with seating for six.

Lower Level

۞ The greenhouse provides fertile ground for growing plants, should anyone be inclined to plant there, and space for allowing pets to roam. A small colony of beebats nests in a corner of the ceiling.
۞ A hotspring fills the pool in the greenhouse's centre, creating a relaxing bathing area.
۞ The common room contains tables, chairs, a bar and stools (with cheap but serviceable beer on tap after 2PM), and a foosball table.
۞ The training room is stocked with mats, gear, and a variety of weapons (swords, spears, brass knuckles, tonfa, nailbats, etc.). There are a few styles of guns with rubber bullets, and all weapons have tazing ability. All of them. Weapons may be removed for use outside the dorms.

The Stairs

۞ They circle an empty shaft, and go down. And down. And down.
۞ Torchlight illuminates the path, but doesn't reach far into the dark.

The Sanctuary

۞ There is a sense of peace here.
۞ The only torches in the room stand in tall holders in the centre of the room, at the four corners of the stone altar.
۞ The altar itself is large, made of what appears to be gold veined black marble. It is expansive and smooth, with the very center of it a large, smooth bowl seems to be carved out of it, and filled with some sort of colorless liquid. Burning in the air just above it, a fire crackles, apparently without any need for a fuel.
۞ The Guardian's coils cover the floor, much of the walls, and even parts of the ceiling. His scales are glossy black and warm to the touch.
۞ The murals in the area glow. They can be reached if they are visible, but many of them seem to be hidden by the Guardian's coils.

Sub-Units

Instead of a random arrangement, you now are organized by wing. After the meeting with the Guardian, or waking up after this point, you automatically know where you are supposed to be. Units are in groups of six, and you may choose your room arrangement outside of the wing.

Uroboros

۞ The grasping serpent
۞ Reside in the north wing
۞ The uniform boasts of gold buttons and trim. Threading of the serpent's symbol seems to be of the same.

Caduceus

۞ The twined serpent
۞ Reside in the west wing
۞ The uniform boasts of silver buttons and trim. Threading of the serpent's symbol seems to be of the same.

Uraeus

۞ The hooded serpent
۞ Reside in the east wing
۞ The uniform boasts of copper buttons and trim. Threading of the serpent's symbol seems to be of the same.

Standings

Standings are determined by the sum of what your TEAM has done that month. Activity posts will be posted every month, and while you post in there to receive your tasty memories, we are also determining standings based off of a scoring system.

۞ Running a multi-team minigame will net you the most points.
۞ Running a solo mission will net you just a little less.
۞ Assisting in Game or Judge run game will have some variance depending on the difficulty of the request, but is generally the next step down.
۞ And on the lowest tier is doing little things like enforcing the rules, pillar visits, random tasings, etc.
۞ We have an idea or two for tasks to help establish a midrange of activities. Stay tuned!

Because this is pooled, your standings can easily be altered depending on what was done. For example if two members pair up to run a large mini-game, you could easily outstrip a team with every member going on a tasing spree.

Standings at any given time will be posted in the user info of this journal.

High Tier

۞ Dorms contain a large comfortable bed, a writing desk with ink and paper and a nightstand.
۞ Lighting is kept by oil lamps with a pleasant scent. Light levels can be adjusted easily by the lamp. The rug on the floor is a soft fur, and pleasant to the touch.
۞ Uniforms and bedsheets are made of black spidersilk. The uniform is incredibly resistant to damage and can even be considered a light armor.
۞ In addition to the favoured uniform changes, an Ophiuchus member reaching top standing may ask for an item of comfort or power each time they make top standing. These items will not disappear with a drop in standing.
۞ Kitchen is kept with a wide variety of spices, sugars, cocoa, and ample supplies for baking. There is a stone chest in the far corner of the kitchen that seems always refrigerated... inside will be fresh meat wrapped in white paper, fruits and occasionally some dessert-like snacks.
۞ Daily rations are more than enough to keep everyone comfortably well fed without needing to hunt. On occasion, prepared meals will be set out by an unknown benefactor.
۞ Items such as coffee, cigarettes and other items of addiction are well stocked and easily enough to last comfortably.

Middle Tier

۞ Dorms contain a small but comfortable bed, a dresser, and a nightstand.
۞ The dorm's stone floor is covered by a rug, and the room lit by extinguishable torches.
۞ Uniforms and bedsheets are woven of penna and cort; soft, comfortable fabrics that wear well.
۞ Two favoured items of clothing may be added to the standard uniform.
۞ The kitchen is kept stocked with salt and spices, and there is a selection of plain dishes and cutlery.
۞ Daily rations consist of milk, grain and jerky rations, as well as some fresh fruits and vegetables, in quantity enough for everyone to stay well-fed. They occasionally receive rations of sugar, unsweetened cocoa, and coffee.
۞ Things like cigarettes are lean, but you should be able to make them last through the week if you are frugal.

Low Tier

۞ Dorms contain a small but comfortable bed and a nightstand. All spare uniforms sit on top of the nightstand.
۞ The dorm's floor is unadorned and the room lit by extinguishable torches.
۞ Uniforms and bedsheets are woven of a coarse fabric.
۞ Uniforms are returned to the standard, one alteration only form of Ophiuchus.
۞ The kitchen has occasional salt and basic spices.
۞ Daily rations consist of milk, grain and jerky rations as well some fresh fruit sparsely. Hunting is required for comfort but not survival.
۞ No cigs guys. No coffee either.

Apping

۞ Ophiuchus has its own app page!

۞ Ophiuchus may not be apped as a player's first character, but can be apped as a second or subsequent character.

۞ Not every character is suitable for play on Ophiuchus. Apps for Ophiuchus may be denied if the character doesn't suit the unit's overall purpose and goals, so when in doubt, please feel free to ask a mod about the character before you write your app. Some things we look at, and some things to keep in mind are:

۞ Is this character a midboss or villain in canon? If not, why do you think they can function as one in Sabra?

۞ Will this character be able to do the things generally expected of Ophiuchus? Follow orders, be at least reasonably loyal to the judges, hold themselves above the regular Blanks, bust kneecaps . . . If you want to app a character who doesn't fall into the right frame of mind, what are your plans for keeping them playable?

۞ If the character is unable to hurt people they are close to, especially if those close people are already in the game, how will they reconcile that with their job?
۞ If you currently have a character on a regular team you feel would be better suited to Ophiuchus, there's a form on the app page you can use to ask for a transfer. However, from this point forward, transfers may only take place if the character is ICly willing to cut ties to their previous unit and join Ophiuchus of their own volition.

Arrivals

Each new Ophiuchus wakes upon the Guardian's coils in the dim lights of the Sanctuary, with no recollection of anything whatsoever previous to that point. They are wearing a plain black suit that is unadorned with metallic trim, with non-human characters having at least a black armband or tie. They also have a metallic bracer encircling one forearm. The surface beneath them is warm, and the glimpses of the murals around them glow faintly, but how much each notices or makes sense of these things is unique to their own experience.

On their person (or, perhaps, still held in their hand) is a small device that looks something like an old-fashioned brass telescope. Looking in to it, they will see a small, grainy video, complete with sound. An unfamiliar person (who is actually themselves) talks to them, giving them twenty or fewer words of advice that contain no clues to their identity, and closes with, "I shall serve the Judges faithfully."

As they first approach the lit altar, the Guardian will have them reaffirm their vow in their own voice. As they place their hand in the fire, their sub-unit's trim will adorn their outfit, and their companions will be summoned to greet their new member.

Activity

The previous activity requirements are currently cleared!

You are now held to regular Blank standards, which means that you need to have some activity every two weeks. It no longer needs to be job related, regular threads are fine as long as you are doing them.

HOWEVER, if you do not do anything job related you will not get a memory until you do, and by at least some degree, your sub-unit's standings will suffer. Your character also risks incurring the Guardian's wrath ICly, which can lead to a very Bad End.

Which brings us to:

Memories

How this works OOCly:
۞ Complete your what had been your job activity requirements!
۞ Find this month's activity post on the [info]sabra_la_ophis and comment with your character name and link to the thread.
۞ If it's a task you want a memory for, ping/pm Watanuki (or Kururu/Nishi if Watanuki isn't available) with a link to that thread, we will pick out a memory and give it to you right then. It's that simple!
۞ We will also be happy to play out the IC offering and receiving of the memory if you wish. Happily! Just tell the mod that you'd like to play it out when you PM them for your memory.

Please note, that off-screened events and making Blanks do your chores DO NOT count as memory worthy activities! The former is self-explanatory and the latter is a job perk, not a part of the job. Similarly, we rely on you to have some common sense. If you do a tasing post, every zap in it is not going to get you a memory, but it may build up to a better/more significant memory.

How this works ICly:
۞ Your character goes down into the Guardian's lair with one of two things:
   - Some proof of a finished task, such as a strip of fabric or a finished project.
   - The token of a Judge, rewarded when completing a task.
۞ This is given up as an offering, placed in the bowl in the center of the altar. It will catch fire, and if the offering is sufficient, the ash and charcoal will peel off of it, and a memory berry will be revealed.
۞ A token will appear after any rewardable task is completed, and will represent the Judge that most closely is interested in the completion of the task. You would only get one token per event, and abuses of the system would get a character in trouble with the giant snake watching you.
۞ Simple tasks, like rule enforcement, will have the Guardian's symbol.
۞ Completing a quest, a Judge request, or assisting in a game will have that Judge's symbol.
۞ Successfully causing strife between teams will have the King's symbol.

Guidance

۞ Yes, there is now a dedicated Judge to instructing and filling in your new Ophiuchus. Pinging Watanuki, Nishi, or Kururu will get it to start you out on the right foot.
۞ It is also there for questions and orders! We will be happy to give you IC solo mission assignments and supplies that you will need.
۞ The Ophiuchus Handbook exists for some IC guidance, if needed.

QUESTION: if you do a bunch of tasks before going to see the Guardian then do you get like... a bunch of marks up your arm?

The Guardian wont give more than one or two tasks (at most) tasks at a time. You can still DO other things like tasing and small errands and whatnot which will count for team points but we want to limit how many memories someone can get at once.

QUESTION: Does a new Ophi wake up in their bedroom and then (probably haha) are ICly directed down to/wander off incidentally to find the Guardian on your own, or would they wake up down in the sanctuary or-? ♥
