Ophiuchus Handbook
This information is found in the first pages of each Ophiuchus’s journal. It is clear and understandable regardless of whether or not the character can read, or even if they can see.
As it is Written
You who have been Chosen, know this:
Here is the land of Sabra La Tau, where all are under the King’s Eye and the King’s Rule.
Those who have come to play in the Games have done so of their own Will, in full Knowledge of and Consent to the Fate which may await them. To each has been granted a Reminder of what they so Pledged.
You who are Chosen have chose to serve of your own Will, in full Knowledge of and Consent to the Service you may carry out. To each has been granted a Reminder of what you so Pledged.
Those who complete their Tenure will be granted a Wish of their Choosing. So it has been Pledged, and so it will be Done.
You who hold the Serpent, know this:
The gift of Knowledge is yours, bequeathed by the Librarian in Trust. Annals of Memories yet unearned are open to you, that you may Learn what may yet be.
Break not this Trust by revealing to Blanks what has not been Recalled by their own Efforts.
The gift of Balance is yours, bequeathed by the Surgeon in Trust. As you take, so may you Give.
Break not this Trust by gifting to Blanks that which they have not Earned.
The gift of Sanctuary is yours, bequeathed by the Foreman in Trust. The home of your predecessors is yours, that you may have Peace amid your Labours.
Break not this Trust by granting entrance to Blanks who do not come in Service.
You who are Ophiuchus, know this:
Your first Allegiance is to the King. Walk among the Blanks, that you may be their Ruler’s eyes, and hands, and ears.
Your second Allegiance is to the Judges. Carry out their Tasks and act in accordance with their Will, and you will receive their Blessings in return.
Your third Allegiance is to the Laws. It is your duty to see that they are Known and Obeyed.
Let no Blank travel to the home of the lost without your presence.
Let no Blank take another Blank’s life outside of the Games.
Let no Blank seek rest within the walls of their opponents.
Let no Blank give food or supplies to their opponents in excess.
Let no Blank raise a hand against the walls without sufficient reason and documentation.
Let no Blank sacrifice themselves or their unit without gain in the Games.
In this, so will you Serve.
In Short
۞ Each Blank came here willingly and with full knowledge of what they were getting into. Their motivations are individual, but their goal is the same; to be granted a wish of their choosing.
۞ Ophiuchus are given access to dossiers containing information on normal Blanks. These contain whatever may be in their Stats and Power Retention form, some basic info on their canon relationships, their real name and whether or not they know it.
۞ Ophiuchus are not permitted to tell Blanks things from those dossiers that they don’t already know.
۞ Likewise, they are not allowed to give Blanks other kinds of help for free either, nor are they allowed to bring normal Blanks back to the Ophiuchus dorms unless it’s for them to work in some fashion.
۞ Basic duties of Ophiuchus include patrol, carrying out the whims of the Judges (in the form of help in games, solo missions, minigames and general doing-things-in-the-name-of), and enforcing the rules.
۞ The rules Ophiuchus are responsible for are:
۞ No going to the pillar without accompaniment۞ Of these, wall punching is usually served by delivering the ‘proper documentation’, and Judges usually take care of the last themselves.
۞ No killing outside games
۞ No sleeping over at dorms other than your partner team’s
۞ No excessive sharing of food or supplies with a team other than your partners
۞ No punching walls without reason
۞ No noble self-sacrifice in Games
